Two lucky Al Ghurair City shoppers drive away with BMW cars

Dubai,10 February 2007: Not in his wildest dreams did Aboo Backer Baba, an Indian office boy, imagine he would sit inside a BMW car, let alone drive one. But in one single stroke of luck his world has turned topsy-turvy, as he is now the proud owner of a BMW 7 series car! It was the grand prize that he won in the DSF 2006-07 promotion run by Al Ghurair City that also coincided with the mall’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Initially receiving the news with shock, 43-year old Aboo Backer, who hails from Kerala, was predictably elated shortly after, and described it as “God’s answer to my prayers”, as he can now afford to host a proper wedding for his daughter. His winning coupon was among thousands picked at the first of two draws held at Al Ghurair City, offering two lucky shoppers a BMW car as the top prize. A father of three children, Aboo Backer received raffle coupons after purchasing a mobile phone at Al Ghurair City.

The second car was won by another lucky shopper, Santosh Limbo, from Nepal. The two winners received their keys from Ms. Mukta Sabharwal and Mr. Jihad El-Khouri of Al Ghurair City.

Shoppers spending a minimum 200 dirhams received a coupon that entitled them to enter the two draws for the BMW cars. As an additional reward, the raffle promotion also made sure that there were around 2000 happy winners who got instant prizes worth AED 150,000 that ranged from gold to modern day electronic gadgets and many other exciting gifts.

Further, hundreds of DSF shoppers made their way to Al Ghurair City to lay their hands on free gold coins that were given away by the mall on January 25, as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations. Every shopper who spent a minimum Dhs. 200 received a free gold coin bearing the Al Ghurair City 25th anniversary insignia.

The fabulous promotion that was aimed at rewarding DSF shoppers capped a hugely successful DSF campaign run by Al Ghurair, which helped boost footfall and sales during the 45-day shopping extravaganza.
