DSS witnesses huge success at Al Ghurair City

Dubai, July 5: Al Ghurair City, the first shopping mall in the Middle East, has begun hosting a wide range of activities for families and visitors coming to the UAE as a key sponsor for DSS 2007.

The first of these events took place on the 21st of June and ended on the 27th of June. The Heritage Surprises captured the rich heritage of the UAE and offered a true insight into Dubai’s beginnings.

A series of pantomimes based on Dubai’s historical legends were preformed by the talented Al Aylah Group to a captivated crowd of all ages and cultures. Shoppers also had the opportunity to watch authentic dhows being built. An extensive library and photographs also captured the gradual transformation of Dubai into the thriving metropolis it is today.

The event has proved to be a popular one and has set the standard for creative events taking place at Al Ghurair City during DSS.

The Food Surprises, which took place from the 28th of June to the 4th of July, introduced specialties from around the globe, and international chefs also presented mouth watering dishes. Shoppers took part in cooking competitions and demonstrated their own culinary talents.

The next round of fun packed events planned for July and August are the Comedy Surprises (5th of July to 11th of July), Adventure Surprises (12th of July to 18th of July), Nature Surprises (19th of July to 25th of July), Cartoon Surprises (26th of July to 1st of August), Global Surprises (2nd of August to 8th of August), Knowledge Surprises (9th of August to 15th of August). Flower Surprises (16th of August to 22nd of August) and the Art Surprises (23rd of August to 31st of August).

The mall will also provide DSS shoppers with the opportunity to win up to 5 million Dirhams and fabulous prizes at a 72-day promotion. Shoppers spending a minimum of Dhs 200 at any of the over 200 diverse retail outlets at Al Ghurair City will receive a coupon to participate in the promotion.
