Al Ghurair City unveils exciting events in celebration of Eid
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
Dubai, 10th October 2007: Al Ghurair City has unveiled a unique range of activities to take place during the Eid celebrations.
All events have been inspired by the diverse culture of the UAE and include hair dancers and skirt dancers to name just a few. Other attractions feature a specialized henna artist and a talented falcon man.
In the UAE, the women’s dance is called Na’ashat in reference to the movements of the women swaying their hair to the rhythm. The dance is performed in groups or pairs and is largely improvisational. “The dancers repeat the steps many times, improvising within a framework of traditional movements, while allowing the clever and original dancer room to innovate.” Hair tosses feature in Khaleejia dance. Often dressed in multicolored dresses or Jalabiya’s, this spectacle is a vibrant one and is a joy to witness. The hair dancers will be performing during Eid from 4.00pm onwards at the mall.
The Skirt dance is a traditional Egyptian Folkloric dance that is a high energy dance full of life and vibrant colors. The dance is definitely gypsy in heart and spirit. The Egyptian Folkloric dances are rich in history and known as the 'heart of Arabian dance'
Skirt dancers will also be entertaining the many visitors with their bold moves from 4.00pm onwards at the mall.
In addition, a specialized Henna artist will also be available. Henna is a coloring agent made from the green leaves of a henna plant which, when mixed with ingredients like tea, coffee, cloves, or tamarind, forms a paste. The decorative red, brown or black tattoo design, lasting approximately three weeks, is often used for weddings and Arabic celebrations. Whether you choose to decorate your ankle, wrist or hand, the talented artist will create a different look especially for you. The Henna artist will be at Al Ghurair City from 6.00pm to 10.00pm throughout Eid.
Falconry is an important part of desert life and has been practiced in the UAE for centuries. Today, falcons remain a key symbol of UAE and a picture with an authentic falcon trainer and his bird of choice is a unique souvenir to be treasured. Bring the entire family as you create memories you will remember for a lifetime. The falcon man is available from 6.00pm to 10.00pm during Eid.
“Eid marks the end of the holy month and is time for festivities spent with the family. Al Ghurair City will be offering many retail bargains but we will also be including activities and events that are in keeping with the UAE’s traditions. We are confident that our multicultural shoppers will thoroughly enjoy these events” said, Ms. Mukta Sabharwal, Events & PR Coordinator of Al Ghurair City.
All events are free but get there early as space will be limited!
